IBM and Tech Mahindra Introduce the Next Generation of Reliable AI with WatsonX

Tech Mahindra, a global leader in technology consulting and digital solutions, has teamed up with IBM to help organisations worldwide adopt generative AI more sustainably.

This partnership leverages Tech Mahindra’s diverse AI services, known as TechM amplifAI0->∞, along with IBM’s watsonx AI and data platform, which includes AI Assistants. Through this collaboration, customers can blend IBM watsonx’s capabilities with Tech Mahindra’s expertise in AI consulting and engineering, offering new generative AI services, frameworks, and solution architectures. This synergy allows organisations to develop AI applications using their trusted data to automate processes, build reliable AI models, ensure explainability, manage risk and bias, and scale AI adoption across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.

Kunal Purohit, Tech Mahindra’s Chief Digital Services Officer, highlighted that organisations are increasingly focusing on responsible AI practices and integrating generative AI technologies to revitalise their operations. “Our collaboration with IBM aims to drive digital transformation, foster GenAI adoption, modernization, and ultimately stimulate business growth for our global customers,” Purohit stated.

To boost AI capabilities further, Tech Mahindra has launched a virtual watsonx Centre of Excellence (CoE), which is already operational. This CoE serves as a co-innovation hub, dedicated to maximising the synergies between the two companies and developing unique offerings and solutions based on their combined strengths.

The solutions developed through this partnership aim to help enterprises build machine learning models using open-source frameworks while enabling them to scale and accelerate the impact of generative AI. These AI-driven solutions are designed to enhance efficiency and productivity responsibly.

Kate Woolley, General Manager of IBM Ecosystem, emphasised the potential of this collaboration, stating that generative AI could drive innovation and open new market opportunities when built on principles of explainability, transparency, and trust. “Our work with Tech Mahindra is expected to expand the reach of watsonx, enabling more customers to build trustworthy AI to support enterprise use cases like code modernization, digital labour, and customer service,” Woolley added.

This collaboration aligns with Tech Mahindra’s ongoing efforts to transform enterprises with advanced AI-led offerings and solutions, including recent innovations like Vision amplifAIer, Ops amplifAIer, Email amplifAIer, Enterprise Knowledge Search, Evangelize Pair Programming, and Generative AI Studio.

The two companies have a history of collaboration. Earlier this year, Tech Mahindra opened a Synergy Lounge with IBM on its Singapore campus to accelerate digital adoption for APAC organisations. This lounge supports the implementation of next-generation technologies like AI, intelligent automation, hybrid cloud, 5G, edge computing, and cybersecurity.

Beyond Tech Mahindra, IBM watsonx has been involved in other collaborations to expedite the deployment of generative AI. Earlier this year, IBM partnered with the GSMA to support generative AI in the telecom industry, launching GSMA Advance’s AI Training program and the GSMA Foundry Generative AI program, which provides hands-on training for architects and developers.

In another significant development, OpenAI recently disrupted five covert influence operations attempting to misuse its models for deceptive activities online. Despite these efforts, none of these operations showed substantial audience engagement or reach due to OpenAI’s safety measures.

OpenAI remains committed to designing AI models with safety in mind and proactively intervening against malicious use. The company’s investigations, aided by industry sharing and open-source research, revealed that threat actors used OpenAI’s services to generate large volumes of text, mix AI-generated and manually written content, and fake engagement, though none managed to attract authentic engagement.

OpenAI’s defensive measures, including AI-powered tools, have improved detection and analysis efficiency, significantly reducing investigation times. The company stresses the importance of industry sharing to increase the impact of its disruptions and remains dedicated to developing safe and responsible AI.
