NSRCEL and Capgemini India have joined hands to launch a social entrepreneurship incubation program. Capgemini has committed to supporting nine additional cohorts from 2023 to 2025 as part of this initiative.
The primary objective of the social entrepreneurship incubation program is to tackle the challenge of validating solutions for product-market fit and evolving business models while also promoting scalability. This will be achieved by identifying and assisting startups with a focus on technology and digital inclusion, driving innovation in these areas.
The program will admit a new cohort every four months, with each cohort consisting of 15-20 early-stage innovations that have shown promise in the market. The program is open to both for-profit and non-profit startups from various sectors.
The collaboration’s “Impact Orbit” initiative, led by NSRCEL, aims to incubate 120 social enterprises in the next three years, fostering a convergence between for-profit and non-profit business models in India. Additionally, the program seeks to establish a support network of partners and service providers to assist these startups in achieving success.
Over the past three years of their partnership, four for-profit startups have successfully pivoted their business models, and nine non-profit startups have gone from the idea stage to launch in the market. Collectively, these 13 ventures have positively impacted over 5.45 lakh beneficiaries and secured more than Rs 8.5 crore in funding through grants and equity. Furthermore, the program’s support has equipped these startups with a strong framework for scalability.
Anurag Pratap, Vice President and Head of CSR at Capgemini India, emphasized the company’s commitment to using technology and innovation to create sustainable solutions for a more equitable society. He stated that Capgemini’s partnership with IIM-B’s NSRCEL aims to support early-stage social ventures in addressing pressing social issues through scalable and sustainable business models, aligning with the goals of Capgemini’s digital inclusion program.
