Chennai, April 2025 – Sweet Karam Coffee, a Chennai-based food startup that brings the authentic taste of South Indian snacks and sweets to homes across India, has raised $8 million in Series A funding. The investment round was led by Peak XV Partners, along with continued support from Fireside Ventures, one of the company’s early investors.

This is a major milestone for the brand, which has become a favourite among people who miss traditional flavours and crave that ‘homemade’ touch.

Bringing Back the Taste of Home

Sweet Karam Coffee started with a simple goal—to make it easier for people to enjoy authentic South Indian snacks without spending hours in the kitchen. Their menu includes traditional favourites like murukkus, banana chips, laddus, mixture, and many more childhood classics, all made with love and care, just like how moms and grandmothers used to make them.

Whether you live in Chennai, Delhi, or even abroad, their products bring a nostalgic, comforting experience in every bite.

What Will They Do with the New Funding?

With this new $8 million investment, Sweet Karam Coffee plans to scale up in a big way. Here’s how they’re planning to use the funds:

  • Reach More People: The brand wants to grow its presence across India, both online (through websites and shopping apps) and offline (through retail stores and supermarkets).
  • Introduce New Products: They will add even more South Indian treats to their collection—some traditional, some with a modern twist—to keep things exciting for their customers.
  • Improve Their Supply Chain: To make sure products stay fresh and deliveries are smooth, they will invest in better packaging, faster logistics, and stronger backend systems.

Why Investors Are Excited

The funding comes at a time when people are becoming more mindful about what they eat. Many are turning to clean-label, preservative-free, and regional food brands for that sense of comfort and authenticity.

Peak XV Partners said they were impressed by how Sweet Karam Coffee is keeping traditions alive while using modern technology to reach more customers. Fireside Ventures added that they believe the brand has huge potential to lead the regional food revolution in India.

What This Means for the Indian Food Market

As India’s packaged food industry continues to grow, there’s increasing demand for trustworthy, nostalgic brands that feel personal. Sweet Karam Coffee is tapping into that emotion—bringing the warmth of South Indian kitchens into modern households, no matter where they are.

This funding round gives the brand the push it needs to not only expand but also stay true to what made people fall in love with it in the first place: real food, real taste, and real tradition.
