On April 1, 2025, Tvaster Genkalp, a health-tech startup from Chennai, raised $1.25 million in funding. This round was led by Ideaspring Capital, along with support from Invigo Softwares and famous liver doctor Dr. Mohamed Rela.
Tvaster Genkalp, founded in 2021 by Dr. Srikar Raman and K. Sreedurgalakshmi, is a healthcare startup focused on developing advanced diagnostic solutions for early detection of serious illnesses like liver cancer. Their core innovation, Episcreen™ Liver, is a simple blood test that helps identify liver cancer in its early stages—leading to more effective treatment and better chances of survival. By blending cutting-edge science with practical healthcare needs, Tvaster aims to make cancer diagnosis in India more accurate, non-invasive, and easier to access.
The money will help Tvaster grow and launch its main product – Episcreen™ Liver. This is a simple, non-invasive test (no surgery or biopsy needed) that helps detect liver cancer early. It’s much better than current tests and can find liver cancer with 90% accuracy, while regular tests only detect around 50%.
Tvaster was started in 2021 by Dr. Srikar Raman and K. Sreedurgalakshmi. Their goal is to use new technology to catch cancer early. Besides the liver test, they’re also working on:
- Episcreen Bile – to detect bile duct cancer
- Episcreen HBResist – to check if children with liver cancer will respond to chemotherapy
Liver cancer is a big problem worldwide. In India, 1 in 5 adults suffer from liver-related diseases. Many people don’t get diagnosed early because the current tests don’t work well. That’s why Tvaster’s test is so important — it could help save more lives.
Naganand Doraiswamy from Ideaspring Capital said he believes in Tvaster’s work and thinks their test will also help doctors monitor patients after treatment.
This funding is a big step for Tvaster. With it, they hope to bring better cancer testing to more people and improve the chances of survival.
